how we help

AD Consulting Engineers undertakes the design, drawings, and specifications for backyard swimming pools.

Whether it’s a new swimming pool or reconfiguring an existing pool, we do the structural engineering not just for the pool structure and shell, but typically also the shoring and retention works associated with the excavation for in-ground pools. We can also do the engineering for the pool coping, the surrounding terrace or deck, and any associated elements such as a cabana or landscaping retaining walls.

We have particular expertise in concrete swimming pools, with a particular focus on durability and quality – noting that pools present particularly aggressive environments for reinforced concrete due to the presence of salts and chlorine. This means careful consideration with respect to the concrete’s specification, the reinforcement design, and the steel detailing.

Working directly with the architect and/or builder, we provide the structural engineering design, drawings, certificates, and construction supervision (i.e. inspections for conformance and quality during the build) for all manner of domestic swimming pools.

We’ll address and tackle the required engineering for your pool:

Initial site inspection & advice/report
Co-ordination with the geotechnical consultant (strongly recommended if excavating for an inground pool!)
Engineering advice, recommendations, and concepts where excavation and shoring is required near site boundaries
Structural analysis and design of the pool, coping, surrounds, landscaping, and – if applicable – bespoke fencing
Preparation of structural engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications
Certificates and reports for Council and/or the certifying authority
Dilapidation reports on neighbouring properties (if required)
Assist the builder during construction
Conformance and quality “sign-off” inspections during the build
